Roy Troutt
Roy Troutt built a reputation for dedicated service in his twenty-five years at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha. After teaching in the Ardmore Public Schools, Troutt became head of the department of Education and Psychology at Southeastern in 1964. In 1968, he moved to the University of Oklahoma and became Dean of the College of Liberal Studies in 1970. He was appointed president of USAO in 1975, where he paid off an accumulated debt, refurbished the physical plant, solidified the university’s accreditation, and recruited top-flight Ph.D.s to teach in the liberal arts program. Troutt was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1994. He retired in 2000, and now lives in Norman.
