Richard H. Leftwich
Richard H. Leftwich was professor of Economics at Oklahoma State University from 1948 to 1985. He moved through the ranks from Assistant Professor to Regents' Professor of Economics, serving as chair of the Department from 1965 to 1975. Leftwich authored The Price System and Resource Allocation, a popular and internationally known classic textbook. From 1979 until his retirement in 1985, he was director of the University's Market Economy Education Center. He was recipient of many honors and awards, among them the Southwestern Social Science Association Distinguished Service Award, presented in 1991. Leftwich was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2003.
