Nancy Jane Davies
Nancy Jane (Frantz) Davies graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts in modern languages. Later, she studied at Phillips University at Enid, Oklahoma, completing her teacher certification at that institution. She was the first female member of the University of Oklahoma board of regents. Later, she became the first woman to be elected president of the OU board. She also served on the Phillips University Board of Trustees and in 1989 became the first woman to chair that body. Her service to Oklahoma brought her many prestigious awards and honors, culminating with her election to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1986. Davies was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1995.
