Kathryn Kerr Kunc
Kathryn Kerr Kunc was Professor of Art at the University of Central Oklahoma for thirty-four years before teaching art, jewelry making, and metal design on a part-time basis for sixteen more years. She joined the art faculty at UCO in 1952, and eventually became chair of the art department. Kunc was honored as the institution’s Teacher of the Year in 1967, and was named Outstanding Faculty Woman in both 1974 and 1980. A faculty sponsor of many student organizations, she also served as UCO’s alumni president in 1982-83. In retirement, she continued to mentor aspiring artists and artisans within the Edmond community. Kunc was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2002.
