- John W. Renner
John W. Renner
John W. Renner spent forty years in education as a science teacher, researcher, and author. He earned a Ph. D. in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of Iowa in 1955. He came to the University of Oklahoma in 1962 as professor of Science Education, remaining until his retirement in 1989. Renner was director of Teaching Services for the Frontiers of Science Foundation in Oklahoma City, and coordinator for one of four national trial centers for the Science Curriculum Improvement Study from 1965 to 1974. Renner helped found the Science Education Center at OU, where he was recipient of two distinguished teaching awards. Renner died in 1991 and was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1999.
