Joe E. White
Joe E. White became the third president of Carl Albert State College in 1975, after serving in the Oklahoma public schools as principal and superintendent for more than a decade. Under his able leadership the college blossomed: enrollment grew from 600 to 3700; faculty members increased from 19 FTE to 182 FTE; a new branch campus was built in Sequoyah County; more than two- dozen capital projects were completed; and seventeen endowed professorships were established. The dean of college presidents in Oklahoma, Joe White leaves a legacy of great achievement as he moves toward the completion of three decades as a presidential leader. White was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2004.
