Helmer E. Sorenson
Helmer E. Sorenson, Dean Emeritus of Oklahoma State University's College of Education, served at OSU from 1949 to 1973. Under his leadership, the number of faculty in the College of Education increased from 30 FTE positions to 160, and the graduate program flourished. Sorenson served on many OSU committees, including the OSU Athletic Council. He was secretary of the first University Faculty Council. Sorenson played a pivotal role in international education by developing the Industrial Arts Education program in Thailand, a Point Four project designed to help developing nations after World War II. Sorenson was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2003.
