Francine Leffler Ringold
Francine Leffler Ringold, Oklahoma’s Poet Laureate since 2003, came to the University of Tulsa in 1975 as an associate professor of literature and theatre. Born in New York, she earned a B. A. degree from the University of Michigan, and received two graduate degrees in English literature from the University of Tulsa. She served four decades as editor-in-chief of Nimrod: International Journal of Prose and Poetry. She is married to Manly Johnson, a TU faculty member in literature and creative writing, with whom she collaborated to write Every Other One: Poetry, a finalist for the Oklahoma Book Award in 1999. She was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2005.
