- Elwin Fite
Elwin Fite
Elwin Fite, Vice President Emeritus, Northeastern Oklahoma State University, served as a professor and administrator at NSU for four decades. He came to Northeastern State College in 1953 as professor of Music. During his tenure at NSU, Fite served as professor, dean of the College, vice president for Academic Affairs, vice president of the University, and Acting President. In 1978, under his leadership, Northeastern was named the top program in the nation for Excellence in Teacher Education by the National Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. Fite was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2001.
