David A. Burr
David A. Burr died in 1987, during his thirty-seventh year of service to the University of Oklahoma. Burr was the first individual to hold three OU vice presidencies. He was drafted into projects that required a myriad of responsibilities, including student affairs, legislative liaison, alumni affairs, public relations, and fund raising. He was equally adept at each. He served OU as Editor of Sooner Magazine, Assistant to the President, Director of University Relations, vice president of the University Community, vice president of Development, and vice president of University Affairs. He was a founder of what eventually became the Chronicle of Higher Education. Burr was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2000.
