- Alvin H. Alcorn
Alvin H. Alcorn
Born and educated in Oklahoma, Alvin H. Alcorn has served higher education in the capacities of business manager, regent and adviser to the State Regents for Higher Education. He has had extensive experience in secondary education, and after acquiring a Master's Degree in Business Administration he worked for the University of Central Oklahoma for twenty-three and one-half years as Vice-President for Administration and as Business Manager and Comptroller. He brought the institution into sound fiscal condition and oversaw the financial arrangements that allowed a vast expansion of the school in the 1980s and 1990s. He has been on numerous education task forces over the years and was a Regent of Rose State College from 1987 to 2001.
Active in public service, he was named the Edmond Citizen of the Year in 1976 and the Educator of the Year for Central State University in 1983. He is known as the "Dean of Business Officers" in Oklahoma. A veteran of World War II, Alvin married his wife Naomi in 1940. They have two children and four grandchildren. In recognition of his exemplary service Alcorn was inducted into the 2007 Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame. He passed away on November 14, 2007.
