Alexander J. Kondonassis
Alexander J. Kondonassis joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma in 1958 as an associate professor of Economics. He served as chair of the OU Department of Economics from 1961 to 1971, and as director of the Division of Economics from 1979 to 1986. In 1963, he was named Regents Professor in Economics, and in 1970, he was made David Ross Boyd Professor of Economics. A superior teacher and internationally recognized economist, he was author of seventy publications and presented more than seventy-five lectures on international economic topics. He helped to develop OU’s advanced program concept, and taught graduate classes worldwide. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1998.
