J. Terry Johnson

J. Terry Johnson became president of Oklahoma Christian University in 1974, one of the youngest university presidents in the nation at age thirty-one. He was a 1964 graduate of Oklahoma Christian College, and after completing a law degree at Southern Methodist University, returned to his alma mater as legal counsel and Associate Professor of Business. During his presidency, endowment increased from $1.9 million to $34 million; graduate programs were added; the physical plant was expanded; and Enterprise Square was opened in 1984. Johnson retired as president and became Chancellor of the university in 1996. Johnson was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2000.
