Eddie Carol Smith

Eddie Carol Smith played a seminal role in graduate education and research at the University of Oklahoma. He joined OU in 1980 as associate dean of the Graduate College. After two decades his titles included David Ross Boyd Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Dean Emeritus of the Graduate College and Vice President Emeritus for Research. His responsibilities included oversight of the Museum of Natural History, Science and Public Policy, Oklahoma Biological Survey, Oklahoma Archaeological Survey, and World Literature Today. After retiring from his other duties, Smith returned to teaching Human Relations and Organization Leadership. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2001.
