Dan S. Hobbs

Dan S. Hobbs retired in 1988 as Emeritus Senior Vice Chancellor for Planning and Policy Research, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. In 1987-88, he also served as Interim Chancellor. When he was hired in 1961, the “War Babies” from World War II were flooding the high schools and moving toward college. It was critical that the State Regents’ staff plan for a doubling and redoubling of enrollments within two decades. By 1975, the system responded by adding a community college system, new branch campuses, two medical schools, and a new optometry school. Hobbs was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1994.
